STEWARDSHIP 2027

optimizing

There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people? ... Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were seated.

John 6:9, 11

Letter from Pastor David

This year, our stewardship theme is Multiply, and I am excited to invite you to join us for a special three-week sermon series beginning Sunday, October 18.  Together we will discover what happens when we place our lives into the hands of Jesus.

Throughout these three weeks we will continue our journey through John's Gospel as we consider how Christ multiplies what is surrendered to Him.  We will explore how worship awakens generous hearts, how our stewardship becomes a witness to the world, and how Jesus takes the gifts we offer, even when they seem small, and uses them for His Kingdom in ways far beyond what we could accomplish on our own.  Our prayer this year is simple: Placed in Jesus' Hands. Multiplied for God's Kingdom.

Included with this letter is your family's 2027 Pledge Card.  Each year we ask every household to prayerfully seek God's direction before making an estimate of giving for the coming year.  This is an opportunity to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ by intentionally placing our time, talents, and treasure into His hands and trusting Him with the results.

Your commitment serves two important purposes.  First, it is a personal act of worship and faith, expressing your gratitude for all God has entrusted to you.  Second, it allows our church to faithfully plan and resource the ministries God is calling us to pursue in 2027.  Every child who learns about Jesus, every student who grows in faith, every family strengthened, every person welcomed, and every neighbor served is made possible because God's people faithfully invest in His mission through First United Methodist Church.

As your pastor, I encourage you to spend these next few weeks in prayer.  Ask the Lord how He is calling you to grow in generosity and faithfulness.  Consider not only your financial commitment, but also how God may be inviting you to offer your gifts, your abilities, and your service for the work of His Kingdom. We believe that when our lives are placed into Jesus' hands, He delights in multiplying them for His glory.

On Sunday, November 1, during each worship service, we will dedicate our Pledge Cards together as an act of worship.  We ask that you bring your completed card with you that morning.  If you are unable to attend, you may return it to the church office at any time.

If you have questions about your pledge or would like to discuss special ways of giving, please contact me or our Financial Director, Carla Barnett.  Thank you for your faithful partnership in the ministry of First United Methodist Church.  Because of your generosity, lives are being transformed by the love of Jesus Christ every day.  I look forward to worshiping with you throughout this meaningful season.  May we all discover what God can do with lives that are willingly placed into His hands.
