Since 1988, the In Christ’s Name Committee of FUMC Dothan has provided vital support to thousands of families in Dothan and Houston County, offering assistance with utilities and food.
The First United Methodist Church of Dothan’s Military committee was formed in 2010. Since its inception, our church has sent several care packages and welcome home gifts to those serving overseas. It is our hope that through action, our military will be reminded of Jesus’ love for them and will feel His guiding presence in their lives.
The Bread of Life Ministry of FUMC Dothan is a school outreach program which provides ready-to-eat items, for children in our community during school holidays, who are food-insecure.
Is a non-profit organization working to help countries worldwide to fight food insecurity. FUMC Dothan helps RAH by hosting a volunteer food packing event twice a year.
Is a group of trained volunteers from FUMC Dothan who mobilize following a natural disaster or crisis to support affected communities nearby.
Is a group of skilled volunteers from FUMC Dothan who support those in need of assistance with small, home repair jobs, handicapped ramps, etc.
Various mission trips are offered locally, nationally and internationally. Current trips include: April 2025 to Selma, AL and July 2025 to Boone, North Carolina.
Each December, we team up with The Harbor, to provide Christmas gifts for children and families along with a special dinner event.
FUMC Dothan is proud to serve as a packing host site for SARCOA’s annual Santa for Senior community project that provides basic items for everyday living to local seniors during the holiday season.
On 5th Satudays, Members of FUMC Dothan assist The Harbor ministry by serving breakfast, completing forms, praying with participants, organizing supplies and going out on street ministry.
Through Embrace Alabama Kids, FUMC Dothan supports "The Settlement," UMCH's Dothan Group Home, which serves boys who cannot be with their family due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
Is a ministry of FUMC Dothan for children with special needs. The children are picked up and dropped off by volunteers, and their events follow the Dothan City School calendar, meeting Tuesday’s from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
Is an annual outreach ministry of FUMC Dothan that takes place before the beginning of the new school year. Our gym is set up with tables full of school supplies and more, to ensure students have everything they need as they head to their classrooms.
