Lenten Lunch 3/11: Rev. Chris Herrin

Lenten Lunches are a weekly mid-day gathering during the season of Lent, offering time for fellowship, worship, and reflection. Lunch is served beginning at 11:30 a.m. and remains available throughout the event, allowing guests to arrive as their schedules allow.

Each Wednesday features a guest pastor from the Wiregrass area who will share a brief message rooted in Scripture and the Lenten journey, along with worship time and musical guests. Designed to be lunch-hour friendly, the program begins just after 12:00 p.m. and typically wraps up by 12:50 p.m., making it easy to attend during a workday lunch break.

Lenten Lunches are held weekly throughout Lent at First United Methodist Church Dothan. There is no cost to attend, though donations are welcome to help offset meal expenses.

Rev. Chris Herrin, Evergreen Presbyterian Church

Rev. Herrin began her ministry at Evergreen in March 2025, with 26 years of experience having served as Pastor/ Head of Staff at Lowcountry Presbyterian in Bluffton, SC (near Hilton Head), Solo pastor in Gaffney, SC and Associate Pastor at Sardis Prebyterian in Charlotte.

Chris recieved her BA from Furman University in Greenville SC, first working in Atlanta as a Trust Officer at Trust Company Bank, then as a Youth Director/Young Life Church Partner at Northwest Presbyterian. It was in her years in youth ministry, first as a volunteer, then as a full time Youth Director, that Chris began to feel the call of God to seminary and ordained ministry. However, it was clear that God was working even before then giving her opportunities and experiences that would shape and grow within her the desire to share with others the good news of God’s love and grace. She received her MDIV from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey.

Growing up, Chris lived in various southern states, except for four years in Scotland. Chris is married to Dan who teaches English and Composition at a community college in Bluffton. She has two adult children, Jake in Miami and Lucy in nursing school in Valdosta, GA, and their rescue dog Jaxx. In her free time, Chris likes to exercise, read, see movies, travel, and play at golf and photography on occasion.
