Cross Raising & Lawn Worship

Sunday, March 29 | 5:00 p.m.

Front Lawn – First United Methodist Church Dothan

Join us on the front lawn for one of our favorite Holy Week traditions — an evening of worship, fellowship, and our annual Cross Raising. Following the afternoon Easter Egg Hunts, the celebration continues as we shift from fun and fellowship into worship and reflection.

Beginning at 5:00 p.m., we’ll gather for a relaxed cookout-style dinner with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and all the simple favorites, followed by a time of worship led by The Promise Band. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and settle in for a joyful evening on the lawn.

A large crowd sits in colorful folding chairs on a grassy lawn, watching an outdoor performance on a sunny afternoon under large, leafy trees.
A large group of men works together to carry a heavy wooden beam on their shoulders as they walk across a sunny, grassy park during an outdoor event.
A man in a blue striped polo shirt and yellow glove grills food on a large barbecue smoker while other men help prepare for an outdoor cookout.
A group of men in casual clothes work together to carry a large wooden cross on their shoulders across a grassy field during a sunny outdoor event.

✝️ The Annual Cross Raising

As worship continues, we’ll close the evening with our annual Cross Raising on the front lawn — a meaningful moment that helps us turn our hearts toward the journey ahead. Palm Sunday begins with celebration, but it leads us toward the cross and the hope of Easter.

All are welcome as we begin Holy Week together.
