Around the Table: A Taste of Passover

Remembering God’s faithfulness

Maundy Thursday, April 17, we hope you can take part in this meaningful and family-friendly churchwide Seder meal. The Passover Seder is a special time of remembrance, telling the story of how God rescued His people from slavery in Egypt. On this night we are all welcomed at this sacred table to reflect on God’s faithfulness through the ages, and we celebrate Jesus, the Lamb of God, whose sacrifice brings us into God’s family forever. To help us prepare for this special evening, please register in advance at fumcdothan.org/events. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Rosilyn Holladay at (251) 610-1497.

Special note: A 28-page, educational booklet (pictured at bottom, center) will be available during this service. It is written and illustrated by FUMC Dothan church member, Rosilyn Holladay. The Seder plate (pictured at bottom, right) is a plate containing symbolic foods eaten or displayed at the Passover Seder. Bags of candy symbolize the ten Egyptian plagues and will be used as an example for the children!

Learn more about Rosilyn Holladay:

FUMC church member, Rosilyn Holladay has a heart for God and a deep love for learning more about Him. A few years ago, she was invited to a friend’s home for a Seder meal, and from the moment she experienced it, she was captivated. The rich symbolism, the storytelling, and the deep connection to how Christians receive communion stirred something in her spirit. She felt called to dive deeper—studying its meaning, its history, and how it beautifully points to Jesus and His finished work at the cross.
As part of this journey, Rosilyn has written and elegantly illustrated a booklet that explains each element of the Seder plate, bringing this tradition to life in a meaningful way.
“I’ve always loved art—whether for events or just for fun,” she says. Now, her art has become a way to share her passion, as well as the richness of and the meaning behind the Seder meal with others.
We hope that you will register now and make this night part of your Holy Week celebration!
