    Job Description:

    Do you enjoy working with small children?

    If your answer to this question is “yes,” then the Children’s Team at FUMC Dothan needs you!

    Our Sunday and weekday evenings children’s ministry is looking for friendly and polite adults (18 and older) to assist in age-appropriate care for our children ages 6 weeks-3 years old. This would include feeding, changing diapers, escorting children to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer.

    Childcare hours include Sunday mornings and evenings as needed. You would also have the option to work during special events like Christmas, Easter, etc. Small group Bible study for adults is offered on Wednesday evenings. Childcare hours would also include these times.

Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Position

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Our Weekday Children’s Ministry is currently hiring for full-time positions, for 40 hours, with benefits available.


  • Genuine love for children!
  • Be dependable and willing to learn
  • Be compassionate, patient, and committed
  • Care for children’s basic needs (diapering, feeding, keeping clean, etc.)
  • Teach and demonstrate the love of Jesus
  • 19 years or older
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Drug screen and background check

Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Position, Up to 25 hours/Week

General Qualifications:

  • Recreation background/experience is preferred but not required

Principal Duties:

  • Coordinate and develop volunteers for recreational ministries
  • Scheduling of ministry opportunities to include but not limited to summer camps, church league basketball, etc.
  • Help engage with outreach opportunities
  • Development of new recreational ministries
  • Administrative duties to include years membership, scheduling, newsletter, etc.

Full-Time, Hourly, Summer only

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

This is a full-time position available during the summer months only, and for those 17 years of age or older.  

Workers will be responsible for caring for school-aged children.  Duties include: monitoring children at all times, planning fun and creative activities, accompanying the children on any field trips, plus, providing a safe and nurturing environment.

• Cleaning experience
• Dependable
• Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license
• Able to work independently
• Good physical condition and strength for being on your feet a large portion of shift
• Attention to detail and diligence
Principal Duties:
• Ensure FUMC maintains a high standard of cleanliness and a positive image
• Maintaining floors, walls, windows, rooms, and hallways
• Checking and locking doors for safety and security
• Inform the Assistant Director of Building & Grounds of any maintenance or repair needs
• Inform the Assistant Director of Building & Grounds of any equipment service or reliability needs
• Other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Building & Grounds
