Dear Members and Friends of First United Methodist Church,

Our United Methodist Clergy are appointed by our Resident Episcopal Leader, Bishop David Graves, to serve the communities, churches, and mission of The Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference. The Annual Conference year runs from July 1-June 30. Bishop Graves, through his District Superintendents, has communicated to our Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) the following appointments for the 2021-2022 Conference Year.

Reverend Jack Hinnen is to be appointed as the pastor of the Gadsden Street UMC in Pensacola, FL. Reverend Cheryl Hinnen is to be appointed to Bright Bridge Ministries in Pensacola, FL.

Reverend Alecia Glaize will be moving away from Dothan in June as her husband Dr. Ed Glaize (our current District Superintendent) begins a local church appointment elsewhere.

Dr. Jeff Wilson, the current District Superintendent of the Montgomery/Opelika District will also become the Dothan District Superintendent. Beginning July 1, our Annual Conference will have four District Superintendents. Each one will serve two Districts.

Reverend Sean Peters is to be appointed as an associate pastor at FUMC, Dothan. Sean is presently serving Mosaic Palm Beach, a new Methodist Faith Community in Palm Bay, FL. Sean and Sandra will begin their ministry with all of us in Dothan on July 1.

The following clergypersons are to be re-appointed to FUMC, Dothan: Reverend Lynn Smilie Nesbitt (3/4 time), Reverend Mary Noble Parrish, and Dr. Jim Sanders.

In the near future, the SPRC will communicate more about Jack and Alecia’s new opportunities and how we might bless them forward in ministry. In addition, details of how we can be hospitable to Sean and Sandra will be forthcoming.
