term studies. For more information on these studies and the Fall 2007
class schedule, please contact David Hendrix, at 334.793.3555 x214 or by

Disciple I-IV
The purpose of the DISCIPLE Series is to develop strong Christian
leaders through regular in-depth study of Scripture. During the
course of 34 weeks, DISCIPLE study groups will move through the
biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem.
Jesus in the Gospels
Jesus in the Gospels is part of the DISCIPLE Second Generation Studies
and builds on the foundation and ideals that shaped DISCIPLE. Jesus
in the Gospels focuses on the portraits of Jesus found in the four
Gospels, and studies the accounts of what Jesus said and did in
order to draw conclusions about their meaning and about who Jesus
was. This study looks at the way each Gospel writer presents events
and teachings and at the picture of Jesus that emerges in each of
the Gospels.
Christian Believer
The goal of Christian Believer is to study the substance of the
Christian faith that the church has confessed as a way of connecting
to God and living faithfully. This 30-week study of the classical
doctrines of the Christian faith aims at presenting, explaining,
and interpreting Christian doctrine as the basic teaching of the
church to the end that informed believing leads to committed discipleship.
These basic Christian beliefs distinguish Christians from other
people and Christianity from other faiths.
Companions in Christ
The Companions in Christ series offers a powerfully transforming
experience that builds spiritual practices within congregations,
helping participants open more fully to God and to one another.
During the 28-week program, each week begins with an inviting and
often challenging reflection by a recognized spiritual author. Over
the next five days, scripture passages and questions guide you through
your own reflections. The week closes with a 2-hour group session
where you can share your thoughts, reflect together, and take part
in a variety of group exercises. This is one of the most comprehensive
series available in the area of spiritual formation.
