Members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.

Purpose of United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is:
· To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ.
· To develop a creative supportive fellowship.· To expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Local Unit Organization

Our local unit is organized into circles.  Our circles meeting times and locations include:

Morning Circles 1, 2, and 3                     2nd Tues at 10 AM
                                                                 Members’ Homes

Agape’ Circle                                         3rd Wed at 11 AM
                                                       Lunch Meeting (members notified)

Cindajo Overton (CJO) Circle                2nd Tues 6:30 PM
                                                                 Members’ Homes

Mary Frank Waters Circle            Meets at various times each month                                                                    (members notified)

Most circles rotate membership every two years.  This allows members to get to know more ladies in a more personal manner, thereby stimulating new acquaintances and often creating lifelong friendships.

Local Unit General Meeting is at 12 Noon to 1:00 PM on the first Tuesday of the month.

On the first Tuesday of each month (except June and July), all UMW members, guests and visitors are invited to the general meeting luncheon (referred to as the “Touchpoint” luncheon) that is held in the Fellowship Hall.  This is an opportunity to meet UMW members from other circles and learn more about UMW activities.  The luncheon includes a brief business meeting and a seasonal program (see schedule).

Lunch is served at noon and costs $6.00.  Reservations are needed and can be made by calling the church office by the preceding Monday or by marking the attendance pad in Sunday worship.  Childcare reservations are required and should be made the preceding week through Parents’ Day Out.

For more information on how to get involved in this ministry contact Priscilla Tucker, UMW President at 792-3274 or alagator66@graceba.net or Terri Francis, Staff Representative at 793-3555 or terri@fumcdothan.org.
