Jim spent most of his childhood in Colorado Springs, CO and Montgomery, AL. He met Sally Alverson at an aerobics class at FUMC, Dothan in 1982. Exercise has it’s benefits! They were married in the sanctuary of FUMC, Dothan in May of 1988. Sally and Jim have been blessed with two wonderful children, Brockman, who is a student at The Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University, and Curry who is a student at The School of Nursing at Auburn University. Jim and Sally enjoy traveling and many good friends. They also dearly love Rosilita and Sandy, their 2 dachshunds who were named after classic Bruce Springsteen songs.
Jim is serving in his 33rd year as a pastor in the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. He was been in ministry with the people of First Church, Dothan for 7 years as an associate pastor (1983-1990) and for 7 years as Senior Pastor (2007- present). He exclaims: “I have the best appointment in our Annual Conference and feel blessed to serve Christ and the citizens of Dothan with the good people of First United Methodist Church.”
